Restart a server after a crash
Turn on automatic restarts, learn when Mineshire gives up, and find the first error.
Turn it on
In the server's Options tab, switch on Restart if it crashes. After an unexpected stop, Mineshire starts the server again by itself.
When it gives up
After three crashes in ten minutes, it stops trying. A server that keeps crashing needs a person to look at it, and an endless loop of restarts would only hide the problem.
What usually causes a crash
A few culprits show up again and again:
- The server ran out of memory. Raise it in the Options tab.
- A plugin or mod made for another Minecraft version.
- A second copy of the same server that already holds the port.
Restarting fixes none of these, which is why Mineshire stops after three tries.
Find out why it crashed
- Open the Console tab and scroll to the top of the red text. The first error is the real one, and the lines after it are usually fallout.
- Look for a name you recognise, like a plugin or a mod. That's often the culprit, especially one built for another Minecraft version.
- Earlier runs live under Past logs in the Console tab, with crash reports right next to them. Both are listed newest first.
